Titans Look To Draft And Fans Look To Schedule Release As Free Agency Slows

The Tennessee Titans franchise has a very important decision to make when selecting No. 2 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Although Zach Mettenberger was serviceable, the Titans will have to decide if they want to stay with him and serve another need or draft quarterbacks Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota.

The first season under head coach Ken Whisenhunt saw only two wins, but as they say sometimes you have to bottom out and start from scratch. They tied the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the league’s worst record, but due to tiebreaker situations were given the second overall pick. Conventional wisdom has the Buccaneers selecting Winston at No. 1 overall, so the most probable scenario is the Titans having to decide between filling another need or turning the franchise around with Mariota.

Aside from the quarterback situation, which saw Jake Locker retire early, the Titans resigned offensive tackle Byron Stingly, defensive end Karl Klug and linebacker Derrick Morgan. The Titans made decently sized moves to improve both the offense and defense, including the signings of cornerback Perrish Cox, safety Da’Norris Searcy, defensive end Brian Orakpo, wide receiver Harry Douglas and tight end Anthony Fasano.

The No. 2 overall pick won’t change the entire franchise’s fortunes around instantly, as the Titans are a team with many holes and are in a division where they have to play the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts twice a year, teams which the Titans are far behind talent wise.

But the NFL is great all selling hope towards the future, which is what the Titans are planning on doing in 2015. Nothing is more exciting than a team on the rise with a new quarterback, and Titans tickets will increase in cost if Mariota or Winston wins some games for the franchise early.

Be a diehard fan and experience the rebuild from the ground level. Hipmunk.com has flights to and from Nashville to put you in the center of any NFL city.  You can wake up and walk to the stadium, booking hotels near LP Field through Hipmunk as well.

A new quarterback is the perfect place to start for the Titans to get the fan base exciting about the team again. Although he might take his lumps early, whoever it is, the franchise will be invigorated with new hope for 2015.
